Parenting Groups and Courses
We regularly run parenting groups and courses. Our popular Parentalk groups are open to any parent who would like to come along- no age restriction, no means testing, just a desire to invest in your family life!
Refreshments and course materials are provided.
Do contact us to register your interest in Parentalk. The next course, which we are running jointly with our friends at the Salvation Army, starts on Thursday 25th January at the Salvation Army, 74-80 Union Street, Maidstone, ME14 1ED. The course will run for 6 weeks (with a break for half term), with the last session being on Thursday 8th March. The course will run between 10am and 12pm, and parents are welcome to bring younger children along with them. There is no separate crèche, but our DBS-checked volunteer team will entertain the little ones in the same room as the course is taking place, to give mums and dads a chance to join in without distractions!
Feedback from the last group of parents attending was very positive- 100% of those attending said they'd recommend the course to a friend! Comments included:
"It was good to know that other people feel the same as me. I am not alone."
"I learnt it was good to praise the good, and to mean what you say."
"Relaxed, friendly atmosphere and funny DVD!"
About the course
Parentalk is all about helping mums and dads do the best job they can at bringing up their children. It gives parents the opportunity to share their experiences, learn from each other, and explore some essential parenting principles.
The course is DVD based, with plenty of time for discussion over coffee and cake! The course runs for 6 weeks, with the sessions being:
•It’s not just me
•Love them and let them know
•It’s good to talk
•Boundaries and battles
•Parenting with elastic
•Creating a sense of belonging
